My favorite candied yams recipe. Yes you need to add all of the sugar….and yes you should only enjoy this once or twice a year lol. It’s delicious but certainly not good for you however, I felt it was worth sharing. Enjoy at your own risk!

Instructions
  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. Wash your yams.
  3. Place yams in a large pot and boil until soft.
  4. In a medium bowl mix your sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  5. Now it’s time to layer your sweet potatoes.
  6. Slice your first yam thinly and place it in a 9x13 baking dish
  7. Generously sprinkle your sugar and spice mixture over yams.
  8. Using a tablespoon drizzle 2 tablespoons of butter over layer.
  9. Repeat until you have used all of your potatoes.
  10. Top final layer generously with sugar and spice mixture, orange and lemons juices as well as remaining butter.
  11. Cover with foil and bake for 45-55 minutes until juices are bubbling.
  12. Remove from oven and allow yams to cool for at least 15 minutes.
